I remember when I started nursing my first baby and people told me that, one day, I might actually enjoy it. Of course, I didn’t believe them. Those, “mommy die-hards”, I thought. They also told me I would make my own baby food and that didn’t happen. (Not that I scorn mommies who do. I just chose to use the jarred stuff.)
Now, with my second (and last) baby a few months past her first birthday, I’m having a hard time letting go of the nursing. Yes, I really love it. We’re down to once a day, just before I put her to sleep and it’s one of my favorite parts of the day.
I typically put my three-year-old to bed first and then take my fifteen month old into my room and surf the internet for the ten or so minutes of nursing before she, usually, falls fast asleep. It’s like drinking a glass of red wine in front of the television or taking a bubble bath while reading a magazine. Pure relaxation. And I love how relaxing it is for her. It’s heaven. So, I’m going to keep doing it. For now.
